YU-GI-OH! And HELLBOY Once Crossed Paths (Sort of)
A big thank you to ComicBook for bringing this to my attention. Apparently, back in 2004 the creator of Yu-Gi-Oh! (an anime where everything is solved by playing a children’s card game), Kazuki Takahashi, and the creator of Hellboy, Mike Mignola, decided to trade some art. It turns out that Takahashi is a big fan of Hellboy and Mignola is fond of Yu-Gi-Oh!. So, what was the art they traded? Yu-Gi-Oh! and Hellboy crossovers. Takahashi drew Hellboy with some awesome Yami/Pharoah/Atem hair, the millennium puzzle, an awesome outfit similar to Yami’s, and a duel disk that for whatever reason appears to only have 3 slots, but it looks freaking boss! To return the favor, Mignola drew Hellboy with what appears to be a tank top with Yami’s face on it and the millennium puzzle has a long rope that goes around his arms. These beautiful pieces of art were then shown to the world in an edition of Shonen Jump Magazine. You can read about it on this scan:
As a big fan of Yu-Gi-Oh! when I was a kid, you can imagine my excitement at this little, hidden gem that I'm sure many fans never knew of. You can also find better versions of the pictures here:
What other awesome crossovers like this do you want to see? I’d love something like a DC and Gundam crossover.
