Dragon Type Monsters in Yu-Gi-Oh! are among the most powerful. Over the years, they have received so much support that playing a non-Archetype deck with just Dragon Type Monsters is a viable, even meta, strategy. The Dragon support cards as so good in fact, the Wyrm Type was made solely to have another form of Dragon Type Monsters, so they couldn't abuse the amount of support they have.
Yu-Gi-Oh!: The 10 Best Spellcaster Monsters, Ranked
Dragon Monsters have incredibly powerful effects, and it's widely considered to be one of, if not the strongest Monster Type in all of Yu-Gi-Oh! As such, these Dragon Monsters often find themselves outside of Dragon decks because they're just that good.
10. Blue-Eyes Alternative Dragon
Blue-Eyes Alternative Dragon singlehandedly carries the Blue-Eyes Archetype as a viable Rogue strategy. It can easily Special Summon itself onto the field, only needing to reveal a Blue-Eyes White Dragon in your hand. Not only does this make the Normal Monster useful in the hand, but you also get a powerful Monster on the board to boot.
On the field it can pop a Monster for free, all while treating itself as Blue-Eyes White Dragon for cards that need it on the field. Since it's a Level Eight Monster, it can be used for fantastic Rank Eight Xyz Monsters as well.
9. Judgement Dragon
Judgement Dragon is the main Boss Monster of the Lightsworn Archetype, which heavily relies on milling itself to get Lightsworn Monsters in the Graveyard. By having four Lightsworn Monsters with different names you can Special Summon it for free. Not only that, but this isn't once per turn, so you can summon multiple copies of Judgement Dragon a turn.
On the field, for the small cost of 1000 Life Points, you can completely wipe the board of everything but Judgement Dragon. It requires you to mill four cards at the end of your turn, but in Lightsworn decks this is far from a downside.
8. Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon
Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon was such a powerful Dragon support card that it had to be errata'd in order to balance it. Despite this nerf, the card is still fantastic in any deck running Dragon Monsters. To summon it, all you have to do is banish a Dragon Monster on your field, which is incredibly easy to do.
Once on the field, you can special summon any Dragon Monster from your hand or field for no cost. It is a hard once per turn, but the ability to recycle your powerful Dragon Monsters (including Extra Deck ones) is what makes it a staple in any Dragon deck.
7. Black Rose Dragon
Black Rose Dragon was the star of the early Synchro-era, and never quite left the metagame since then. On its summon, it can completely wipe the board of everything, both Monsters and backrow to reset the gamestate entirely. Its second effect to banish a Plant Monster and force an opponent's Monster to Attack doesn't come up often, but when it does, 2400 Life Point damage is nothing to scoff at.
Yu-Gi-Oh!: The 10 Best Normal Monsters In The Game, Ranked
Since Black Rose Dragon uses generic materials, any deck that has Tuners can make it. Its Level being Seven also is handy, as it allows plenty of decks to go into it easily whenever they need to.
6. Hieratic Seal Of The Heavenly Spheres
Hieratic Seal Of The Heavenly Spheres is a staple in the Extra Deck for any deck running Dragon Monsters. Its materials are incredibly easy to meet, only requiring two Dragon Monsters to Link into. Once its on the field, it forces your opponent to have to play around it or risk losing the entire duel.
Not only does Hieratic Seal Of The Heavenly Spheres allow you to bounce back any card your opponent controls, but it can tribute itself for this effect. By doing so, Hieratic Seal Of The Heavenly Spheres allows you to Special Summon any Dragon Monsters from your hand or dec. Even though it makes its Attack 0, you still get the effects which is why it's so good.
5. Borrelsword Dragon
Borrelsword Dragon was a staple in every Extra Deck before Accesscode Talker came around, but that does not mean Borrelsword Dragon is any slouch. It was infamous for allowing practically any deck that could Link into it to OTK the opponent. Its effects allow it to do 3000 Life Point damage guaranteed, all while being able to attack twice.
Even if Borrelsword Dragon wasn't able to OTK fully, 3000 Attack isn't something easy to get over. It can change the position of a Monster as a Quick Effect as well, allowing you to prevent a powerful Monster from attacking you.
4. Trishula, Dragon Of The Ice Barrier
Trishula, Dragon Of The Ice Barrier is one of the most iconic Synchro Monsters in the entire game due to how much it tore through the metagame when it was first released. It's a powerful Level Nine Synchro Monster, and easily the best Synchro of that Level. It's been all over the banlist, with it current resting in a Limited position.
Yu-Gi-Oh: Every Mirror Force Card, Ranked
Trishula, Dragon Of The Ice Barrier is so good because it's able to hand loop, attack the grave, and take care of problem Monsters, all at the low cost of simply summoning Trishula. It uses generic materials to, make it a staple for any deck that can go into Level Nine Synchro Monsters.
3. Starving Venom Fusion Dragon
Starving Venom Fusion Dragon is one of the main Super Polymerization targets, as all it needs to make it is two Dark Attribute Monsters. With how many Boss Monsters are Dark Monsters, it makes Starving Venom Fusion Dragon all the better.
Once it hits the field, Starving Venom Fusion Dragon comes with a plethora of effects. It can steal the effect of a Level Five or higher Monster the opponent controls to abuse their powerful effects. Not only that, if Starving Venom Fusion Dragon is destroyed, it will destroy all Special Summoned Monsters the opponent controls.
2. Chaos Dragon Levianeer
Chaos Dragon Levianeer is the strongest modern-day Chaos Monster and finds itself being played in almost any deck running Light Monsters, Dark Monsters, or both. It's easy to summon, only requiring you to banish those Attributes from the Graveyard to Special Summon itself.
It has powerful effects based on the mixture of Monster Attributes you banish. These include a free Special Summon from the Graveyard, hand looping the opponent for a card, or destroying any two cards on the field. As if that wasn't good enough, your left with a powerful 3000 Attack Monsters to boot
1. Borreload Savage Dragon
Borreload Savage Dragon became the best Level Eight Synchro Monster the moment it was released. It's generic, meaning that any deck can run it and make it easily, with Level Eight being the best level for Synchro Monsters. It does require a Link Monster in your Graveyard to use it to the fullest, but that isn't an issue most decks have.
On the field, Borreload Savage Dragon is an omni-negate, allowing you to easily shut down any play your opponent makes. Not only that, it boosts its Attack based on the Link Monster attached to it, boosting an already high Attack to even more devastating numbers.
