Yu-Gi-Oh!: 9 Fusion Cards That Yugi Uses In The Anime
While they might not be as relevant as they once were, fusion monsters used to be staples in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime. Here are some fusions Yugi loves.
While they might not be as relevant as they once were, fusion monsters used to be staples in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime. As one of the few ways to fusion summon early on in the game, they were used by just about everyone in the show. Of course, Yugi is no exception to this rule, consistently fusing his monsters together to make stronger creatures.
Yu-Gi-Oh!: Yugi's 10 Most Used Trap Cards
A lot of the time Yugi used his monsters and fused them with allies that he was dueling with, but he also had plenty that he summoned by fusing his own monsters, and they all had varied levels of success.
9. Black Skull Dragon
Joey and Yugi have certainly dueled together a few times in the past, usually to pretty great effect. In Duelist Kingdom, the two dueled together against the Paradox Brothers and were able to overcome their labyrinth maze by fusing Joey's Red-Eyes Black Dragon with Yugi's Summoned Skull to form Black Skull Dragon.
The monster had 3200 attack at its disposal and was able to beat over most monsters in the duel with relative ease.
8. Dragon Master Knight
By fusing Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon with Black Luster Soldier, the monster Dragon Master Knight is formed. Of course, this is only possible when Yugi and Kaiba join forces, such as when they did in order to take on the Big Five.
The card has a whopping 5000 attack points and gains an additional 500 for each dragon the user controls, save for Dragon Master Knight. Of course, with 5000 attack points to start, any extra is just going to be the icing on the cake.
7. Gaia The Dragon Champion
While this card has been reworked several times over the course of its existence, Yugi used Gaia the Dragon Champion in its first form during Duelist Kingdom, where many rules didn't exist.
10 Yu-Gi-Oh Cards That Deserve To Be Unbanned (& Why)
Gaia the Dragon Champion is a 2600 attack point monster with no effect. Normal monsters were pretty common during the early days of the game and anime, so all in all, this was actually a pretty beefy card that could beat down most others with very little effort, making it a useful card for Yugi to pack in his deck.
6. Chimera The Flying Mythical Beast
Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast is one of Yugi's most used fusion monsters, holding a spot in his deck in just about every arc. The card is a quick and easy fusion to get out.
While neither of its materials is good, it doesn't require all that much effort. When this 2100 attack point monster is destroyed, one of its materials can be special summoned from the graveyard, which means its owner won't end up completely defenseless when Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast is destroyed.
5. Dark Paladin
Dark Paladin is a fusion between Dark Magician and Buster Blader. While it wasn't seen often, when it did show up, it meant that Yugi meant business and that he was about to decimate his opponent.
Dark Paladin starts with 2900 attack points, and it gains 500 attack points for all dragons on the field and in the graveyard. In addition, one card can be discarded from the hand in order to negate and destroy a spell card when activated. A little bit of utility is never a bad thing.
4. Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon
But wait a second, Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon is Kaiba's card, how could Yugi have used it? Well, that's exactly right, Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon is Kaiba's card, and the only time that Yugi used it was during the Virtual World arc when he combined his deck with Kaiba's.
Yu-Gi-Oh!: Kaiba's 10 Most Used Trap Cards
Yugi used this card against Noah in the big boss battle of the season. While it was only in his deck for this duel, it was certainly a useful card that Yugi couldn't have won without. It's true he didn't use it often, but this instance was incredibly memorable.
3. Dark Flare Knight
Dark Flare Knight is such a strange card. To be brief, Yugi used this card when he combined Deck Masters with Joey during the Virtual World arc. The card has less attack points than one of its materials, Dark Magician. When the card is destroyed, it automatically brings Mirage Knight onto the field, which must be banished after it attacks.
The whole thing seems unnecessarily complicated.
2. Amulet Dragon
Amulet Dragon is one of two fusions that Yugi summoned during the Waking the Dragons arc.
A combination of Dark Magician and The Eye of Timaeus, the card has 2900 attack points, and when it is summoned it can remove from play all spells in the player's graveyard to gain 300 attack points for each one. Extra attack points are always useful.
1. Dark Magician Girl The Dragon Knight
Of course, Yugi also had to fuse his other Dark Magician, Dark Magician Girl, with The Eye of Timaeus. Coming it at 2600 attack points, Dark Magician Girl the Dragon Knight can attack a monster and discard a card from the hand to avoid the battle, with the opposing monster being destroyed automatically.
While this isn't a super useful effect, it can be handy when the opponent has a huge monster on the field that needs to be taken out. Yugi certainly takes advantage of it.
